Fill-Out Those Registration Forms!

We are no longer offering the possibility of pre-registering for the family reunion and sending in the form by mail, as we don't want to risk not receiving mailed forms in time for the reunion! No worries though, as you can still download the form from the link on the left of the screen and complete it before making the trip to Caraquet. Then, you'll simply present your completed form at the registration desk on either the 11th or 12th of August and one of our volunteers will be more than happy to get everything done for you.

The May 31st public meeting in the historical church in Barachois can be qualified as a tremendous success. Gilles Pinet and Luc Légère, president and vice president of the Association des Léger/Légère d’Acadie Inc., presented the schedule of activities that are planned during the Leger/Legere family reunion during the Acadian World Congress in 2009. We estimate that about 25 people attended the public meeting. The participants were very enthusiastic with the idea of this reunion.

"Enfin retrouvés" - Theme song for the 2009 CMA!

As has been the case for every Congrès Mondial Acadien, a theme song is written for the occasion. For the 2009 CMA, we’re very proud to announce that one of our own cousins, singer-songwriter Daniel Léger, has written the theme song!

With words by Daniel Léger and Mario Robichaud contributing the music, "Enfin retrouvés" is an anthem for unity and reunion. The songwriters claim that their goal was for people to take ownership of the song. Daniel has surrounded himself with artists from different backgrounds and representing various regions of Acadia. This is how Wilfred LeBouthillier (Acadia), Oumou Soumare (Mali and adopted Acadienne!) and Anna Laura Edmiston (Louisiana) joined the project.

The song is available for download (MP3 format) on the Congrès Mondial Acadien website (http://www.cma2009.ca) and you can even watch the video on CapAcadie (http://capacadie.com/videos/36294).

Daniel Léger burst onto the music scene in 2002 when he won the Gala de la chanson de Caraquet in the singer-songwriter category. In June 2004, he launched his first album entitled "La route m’appelle".
